WHAT TO LOOK FOR
SYSTEMS/CONTROLS

Continuous ventilation will allow your house to breathe, so you too can breathe easier! This control of your environment is an important aspect of a modern well-insulated home. Once, you had to rely on windy days and other factors beyond your control to ensure the fresh air required for a healthy indoor environment. Today, you have access to a quality ventilation system providing better health and comfort with energy efficiency! In the process, you'll eliminate condensation on walls and windows, preventing costly household repairs.

    WHAT TO LOOK FOR

1. Vents located throughout your home draw in stale, humid air from the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and other sources of pollutants or moisture.

2. As this air is expelled, the outside vent simultaneously draws in fresh air, warming it with heat recovered from the indoor air being expelled.

3. After passing through the ventilator, fresh warm air is released throughout your house. In summer, the reverse occurs as fresh the indoor air being expelled cools air from the outside.

4. In addition to recovering heat, our Flair Duo systems can also recover or expel excess moisture as needed. This helps maintain a comfortable humidity level inside the house during the cold winter months, while preventing excess humidity from entering in summer.

Installation is a job for the experts!

Whether your ventilation system is being adapted to your forced air heating system, or installed separately, its effectiveness and discreet appearance depend on proper installation by a professional contractor or heating/ventilation expert.

In the case of a separate installation, ducts are hidden inside the walls, and networked throughout your house. All you'll see are the air vents.

If you already have a forced air heating system, however, the installation is even easier since both systems can effectively share all or part of the same duct network.

CHOOSING A SYSTEM

While different models meet different needs, there are common considerations. Some of these points relate to comfort. Is the system capable of recovering both heat and humidity? And what is its recovery rate at 0° C, -25° C and 35° C? What about noise level and ease of operation?

Other questions relate to peace of mind. What about the system's warranty for instance? Or certifications? You should seek a guarantee that covers all mechanical and electrical components for the longest period of time, and ensure that the system you are considering meets government codes as well as standards established by the Home Ventilating Institute and other accredited organizations.
